Sheinside Haul

Hey there, so I have recently heard a lot of good news about the website sheinside and wanted to check it out for myself. They had a black Friday deal on and I was in need of a new coat so I took a look and found a few bits I liked.

I picked up this Heart Print Blouse which I really liked the colour of for Christmas and though the long sleeves would be ideal. I got it for £13.27 in the sale and I really really like it, the material is so expensive feeling. It has measurements on the websites and all though I did have a look at them unfortunately it's a bit too small.

I was originally looking for something a bit different than a parka as it's what I had last year and it's what a lot of girls I know have, so I wanted something a little different. However as you can tell, I ended up with one. They are so warm and this is lined all the way though, even on the arms. It is so thick and will definitely keep warm in the snow. I got this for £23.78 although it was originally £33.97 (you can buy this here).

Okay, so I wasn't planning on getting two coats but I fell in love with this one. I like the fact it's shorter yet it's still as cosy. The hood however is huge, I like this and it keeps me so warm and cosy. This I grabbed for £22.54 and it was originally £27.92 (you can buy this here).

I am so happy with all of my buys, even though (and very unfortunately) one of them doesn't fit. Just a heads up that it can take up to 15 days for it to arrive in the UK and if you do want to return an item you have to pay for the shipping yourself. I will definitely be checking out their website more often.

Thanks,

The Debate: Justin Bieber.

I know this is an odd subject, especially from a blogger who rarely speaks of music. However the other day I was scrolling down my Facebook newsfeed and I cam across some statement of how Justin Bieber had thrown crude comments at a stranger. This isn't the only bad news I've heard of him and I started to wonder, how does he get away with it (of course if the statement is true)? Even more so, how is he such an idol to young teens?

His music was all the rage whilst I was at secondary school, the album I remember the most is My World. He's known for his haircut and his child-like facial features. I like to know that a musical artist has some feel or input into their own music, Justin Bieber co-writes the majority of his and for some reason I feel this is just not enough. His songs are all very repetitive and great for young teens to get the hang of, no wonder they are his target audience.

The year is 2013 and Justin Bieber is 19. Here are some big and bad media moments that I have heard and seen.

I'm fully aware I shouldn't believe everything I see in the media. I do believe that some of this must be true. The rebellious attitude he has welcomed is shocking, especially towards paparazzi. Is this just another spell of child star turning adult wreck? Maybe it's all got a bit much and he is just a young man following his dreams and making a lot of money, would you say no?

Of course he has raised money for charity, tell me a celebrity that hasn't? The one that stands out the most to me is Charity Water but then thinking about it, he didn't raise any money. He asked his fans to. I'm not a belieber but neither do I hate him, I don't listen to his music or follow him on social networking sites. I want to understand his fans and why they look up to him, but so far all I can find is bad news.

Thank you for reading, I know it's something a bit different.

Christmas Wish List 2013

Christmas Wish List 2013

I have seen this over the internet on different blogs here and there and I always find it quite interesting and inspiring at Christmas. As a disclaimer I don't expect to receive everything I have asked for, it is only a wishlist.  I have also offered to pay towards a laptop, you see the one I use know is almost as old as me and it doesn't work to well any more.  I'm not asking for any laptop in particular, I just told my parents what I wanted from it and what I would need it for and they understood (my dads a computer whizz).  Then some music of course, I love The Great Gatsby Book and film and Soundtrack so of course I asked for that. I also have a new found love which is Lorde. I've also asked for these two bits from Topshop, a little microwaveable dragon teddy (as I live with two other girls the hot water bottle is always being used) and one of their mini lip bullets as I really want to try one (I didn't specify a colour as I like surprises). I normally use ELF's primer but I have fallen out of love with it so I am looking for a new one and this looks perfect, so I have asked for the Revlon Photoready Primer. The last object is a phone case, but not just any phone case (and no I don't want the Kate Spade one).  It's an on-the-go charger, you can get them on ebay super cheap and I know this would be so useful.

What am I wearing? Christmas 2013

What am I wearing? Christmas 2013
I really like this polyvore things, so if I get good feedback I'm going to keep doing them. Every year me and my sister get a 'Christmas dress' to obviously wear over Christmas and this year I went for something a little different! My dress was originally from Urban Outfitters (in a sale for around £20) and is by the brand Evil Twin. You can buy it here. I thought I would go for something a bit more colourful then my usual traditional type of dress. Then I will pair it with a cardigan, warm thick tights and my cute little Martie Patent T Bar Geek shoes. I always wear my 'Nina' by Nina Ricci perfume at this time of year it is to die for and comes in the cutest packaging. I have found a new foundation that I love and I will do a proper review soon, it's the Revlon Colorstay and it's amazing (I get it in the combination/oily skin and in the shade 150)! This will be great for Christmas as it has a great coverage and an awesome staying power. I've put up here my Real Techniques as of course I will do some natural but smoky eye type make up on the day, where I will also be using my Benefit Smokin' Eyes Kit. Last but not least, I will be wearing my Lush Lip Scrub in Mint Julips. This is amazing for dry lips, I will maybe most likely be wearing a lipstick but I will see what I fancy on the day.

Real Techniques Eye Brushes

I have known of a website called iherb for a while now, a number of bloggers and youtubers, oh and people on instagram recommend going on there to buy Real Techniques brushes. The brushes come to around half price of what you would pay in the UK, this is so worth doing especially if you want to buy more that one thing. Here you can see that I have got the Your Eyes/ Enhances Starter Kit and the Shading Brush (I did get more but they are for a Christmas present and I don't want to ruin the surprise for anyone). Not only is this a great deal but the Real Techniques brushes are just amazing. I don't need to go on, unless you are new to the blogger/beauty world and don't know how much these are raved about. They are raved about for a reason and not because they are some quick hype that will quickly be replaced. Especially for drugstore buyers who need a good brush set!

My 25 Most Listened To Of 2013

I though I would mix things up a bit and do something I don't normally do. These are in order from No.1 being my most listened to of the whole year. I've got to say, looking at this actually surprised me so much. I never realised how much of an Ellie Goulding or The Black Keys fan I am. I might do these more often as I really enjoyed looking back at everything.

Thanks,

Asos Haul #1

I saw there was a little sale over on Asos and I couldn't resist. My first buy (the reason I was actually on Asos) was a clutch bag. I've never owned one and when ever I go out I feel like a fool carrying a bulky bag, so I wanted something that would go with a lot and that was a good size. This is actually from New Look and because it's holographic it goes with so many of my outfits! It was originally £12.99 but I got it for £9.50 and I am not disappointed. Now I'm not one to buy nail varnish but I did one some go to colours for parties and the winter, plus I am a fan of the Models Own range. These were both £4, the purple is called Pukka Purple and the off-white-lilac is Utopia. Last but not least this gorgeous necklace from Fashionology, I only have one long necklace and it's bronze, so I wanted a silver and I fell in love. This was a great bargain too, originally £26 and I got it for £8!

Primark Haul #2

I found myself in Primark yet again picking up essentials. Most of these buys were re-purchases for winter as my long sleeved items in my wardrobe seems to have vanished.

These pyjama bottoms just scream Christmas to me! They were only £6 and they are unbelievably warm and snugly. Who could say no?

Now I know it isn't crop top weather any more, but hold up and let me explain. They were down to £2 in some small sale section and my best friend had recently complimented me when I wore the black one. So I grabbed myself one in grey and her the black, she was honestly so happy I got it for her. Good deed done.

These are definitely re-purchases and winter essentials. Warm long sleeved tops for £3.50, plus they are great for layering. They have a wide range of colours, that include blues and greens too.

Last but not least I grabbed this snood. The other day I picked myself up one from another high street brand for around £10, but it was no where near as cosy as this. I would definitely recommend this (for only £5) and there are three colours to pick from.

Trigger

The other day I went shopping in Eastbourne and the Topshop there has a make-up counter, where as mine does not. I am always tempted by their makeup range; for example their Glow highlighter and of course their lipsticks.  I wanted a classic red, one that you would see on an 'English-rose' type of girl.  I came across this colour which is 'Trigger'. It is £8 but using my student id it was £7.20. So far I am very pleased with my purchase. It applies so smoothly and lasts around 5 hours (plus I was eating and drinking when wearing it). I think the packaging is so chic and cute. So far no faults. I would encourage anyone to buy these, especially  if you are into the Rimmel by Kate Moss lipsticks.

Thanks,

Updated Fringe

You are probably looking at this title thinking, what?
Well the other day I took a trip to the hairdressers, but I'm desperate for a change. I wanted something different without dying or bleaching or losing the length. So I opted for a change in fringe. I had nearly grown out my fringe but I was loving the 'block fringe' worn by those such as Jenna Coleman and Alexa Chung.

Something a bit scruffy, so that it wouldn't need to much maintenance. I discussed this with my hairdresser and asked if it would suit me, he said 'yeah, go for it'. So I did.

I'm so so so happy with it, I'm a bit nervous about growing it out and what that will look like. But I will deal with that when I get there. I am so happy I took the plunge and got it done. I am definitely going to step out of my comfort zone more often.

Love,
Poppy xx

The Christmas Tag

17 Days, 10 Hours, 53 minutes and 33 Seconds until Christmas, are you excited?

What is your favourite Christmas drink?
Hot chocolate by far, especially with added treats like whipped cream and marshmallows!

What is your favourite Christmas smell?
Oh it has to be cinnamon or spiced apple!

Do you have any Christmas traditions?
Not really, although watching How The Grinch Stole Christmas is a must!

What's the one thing you really want to get from Santa this year?
Music, I love getting music just to add to my collection. Hopefully this year it will be The Great Gatsby soundtrack or Pure Heroine by Lorde.

Have you ever built a gingerbread house?
No, but my sister and dad did last year.

Who is your favourite person to buy presents for?
Probably my sister, as she is three years younger then me so I know what she likes and dislikes.

What is your favourite Christmas song?
Bjork, It's Oh So Quite

What is the weirdest gift you've ever received?
Haha, this is just embarrassing. When I was younger (around the age of 8 I think) my grandparents bought me a packet of thongs, size 16. Let's just say my mum wasn't impressed.

Do you like to get dressed up on Christmas Day or stay in your PJ's?
I don't normally dress up much on Christmas Day as we have more of an event on Boxing Day, where the whole family visits for a buffet and drinks, of course. So probably pyjamas Christmas day.

Boots 3 for 2 and Poundland steal!

So I popped into Boots not to long ago and they had there usual 3 for 2 offer going on, I normally shop in Superdrug but Boots stock some different brands so I took a peak. I bought my usual Revlon Photoready foundation as I have just run out. I then got this Ecotools concealer brush, as I was curious about getting a concealer brush yet I didn't want to spend as much as I would have to to get one from the Real Techniques collection. So I though I would go for the Ecotools brush as I already have another brush from here and have found it is really good! Then last but not least I grabbed my second Soap & Glory lipstick in The Missing Pink, I absolutely love this formula and this colour is just so perfect for an everyday look without it standing out too much. Last but not least I popped into Poundland and found this Barry M Glitter Liquid Eyeliner which will be perfect for Christmas!

Thank you,
Poppy x
